At last year’s Woodstock Fruit Festival, we were blessed to host the wedding of Melissa and Nathan Maris, the raw vegan YouTube couple who experienced their first Woodstock Fruit Festival together in 2018. This is their story.

Back in 2017, greatly inspired by his mother’s tremendous journey healing from cancer and his then YouTube health-guru, Melissa Raimondi, Nathan Maris decided to attend the Woodstock Fruit Festival in hopes of connecting to others on this path.
It was at Woodstock 2017 that Nathan would get connected with raw food influencers and soon be set up for an interview on Melissa’s YouTube channel regarding his 60 pound weight loss on a high carb, low fat, raw vegan diet.
And the rest is raw food history!
After phone calls into the wee-hours and multiple trips from Oregon to Canada and back, Nathan and Melissa would attend their first Woodstock Fruit Festival together in 2018. Over an evening campfire at Woodstock, Nathan proposed to Melissa.
One year later, the couple honored their lifelong commitment to each other in the exact same spot— with the campfire converted into a sunny, durian-ordained altar. Hundreds of attendees helped Nate and Lissa celebrate their matrimony with raw food cakes, a touching Kirtan performance, and durian reception party pulsing with high fruit energy!
Today’s newsletter is not only about Melissa and Nathan Maris’ raw food romance, but about how the Woodstock Fruit Festival brings everyone on the raw food journey together.
A number of people attend the Woodstock Fruit Festival solo and come out with friends, family, or even life partners. In fact, Melissa and Nate were not the first beautiful couple to seal the deal at Woodstock — back in 2014, Woodstock’s photography and videography duo, Anna Krassusky and Raini Pachak, also held their beautiful wedding with us right at Camp Walden.
Social media is one of the most powerful tools available for us to connect with others on the same path. As incredible as YouTubers and Facebook groups are, there is nothing more paramount than real, human-to-human connection, the value of which we have learned more than ever through the current crisis.
Could you be the next person to find love at the Woodstock Fruit Festival?
